We welcome applications to our Sixth Form from both Year 11 Abbey Grange Students and students who have at other schools. If you are not currently studying at Abbey Grange, when you apply you will be invited to visit us for a tour and informal interview with the Post 16 Team. In total, our published admissions number (PAN) is 240 students per year group.
To apply you should have at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, preferable with a Grade 5 in the subjects you wish to study at A Level. Some courses may have higher entry requirements. You can view the entry requirements for each subject within our Course Listings.
If you do not have a grade 4 in Maths and English, there is the opportunity to attend classes and re sit your exam whilst studying for your A Levels. Passes at Level 2 in vocational qualifications (BTECs) will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE, where appropriate, for entry to Applied A level courses.
Students applying for A Level courses should make an application appropriate to their target grades. Students should show a preference for the first 4 courses they wish to study and state which other course is their reserve. It is important students meet the entry criteria for the courses they wish to study. These are available with the subject specific information.
Admission is on to the first year (year 12) of the A Level course only. Admission onto the second year is only for those students achieving a pass at the end of Year 12 in at least two subjects. Re-sitting the first year of courses will only be permitted in exceptional circumstances.
Places are available for both internal and external applicants. Places will be offered subject to appropriate, viable courses being available and students meeting the entry requirements. If the number of external applicants exceeds the number of places available, the over-subscription criteria for pupils entering Year 7 will apply. Please note that whilst our Sixth Form has a strong Christian ethos closely linked to the Lower School, there is no requirement to complete a SIF form or demonstrate a faith background to apply to our Sixth Form.
You can find our full admissions policy on the Lower School website.
We hope you join us at Abbey Grange and we look forward to welcoming you on the next steps of your academic journey. If you have any questions, please contact us on sixthform@abbeygrangeacademy.co.uk
